Under the new Covid Protection Framework, from 3rd December 2021, GCH Aviation and their divisions will be implementing the following policies:

· Vaccine Passes will be required to enter our premises or aircraft. This will be verified by staff upon arrival.

This excludes individuals with an exemption or children under the age of 12.

This applies to GCH Aviation and their divisions of

We would like to assure our communities that, even in these uncertain times, GCH Aviation’s highest priority remains the safety of our guests, visitors, patients, workers, and staff.

We have implemented additional processes and measures to enhance and support the health and personal wellbeing of all which includes opting into the New Zealand Government’s COVID-19 My Vaccine Pass (MVP) system.

COVID-19 My Vaccine Pass

GCH Aviation has confirmed that all our sites and aircraft within the group in New Zealand will require a verified COVID-19 My Vaccine Pass for all persons to be eligible to access operations commencing from Friday 3rd December 2021, children under 12 years old are currently exempt and are welcome when accompanied by an adult with a verified My Vaccine Pass.

As per government guidelines photo ID may be requested to assist verifying a pass, please ensure this is available on arrival if prompted. Accurate COVID-19 record keeping remains a requirement in addition to My Vaccine Pass within the COVID-19 Protection Framework to access sites.

We have undertaken comprehensive risk assessments and consultation with our teams to ensure they become fully vaccinated and ready to welcome guests on 3rd December, we are proud of our team’s effort and uptake of this important initiative.

Forward reservations and bookings will be subject to compliance with this requirement and may be cancelled if management are not satisfied that a guest/guests can fulfil this requirement. Changes or cancellations to bookings incur no charge if made at least 24 hours prior to flight time. Booking amendments are subject to availability.

Should you feel unwell, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 please do NOT come on site but stay home and take care of yourself. Our friendly team will be happy to assist you over the phone to make alternative arrangements for your visit when safe to do so.

We take the utmost care to ensure every stay is welcoming, comfortable and safe. We would like to assure you that along with our own initiatives we continue to act on any information and guidelines received by the New Zealand Government and Ministry of Health.

We ask that you respect our team members who have been tasked with implementing this policy. We would like to remind you that GCH Aviation has no tolerance for aggressive behaviour or conduct that exploits our culture of care, respect and Manaakitanga.

Wellington Helicopters Conditions of Sale

Wellington Helicopters is operated by GCH Aviation Group. Please read our Terms and Conditions for our Wellington Helicopters scenic flights before making a booking.

Rates

  • Rates are quoted in New Zealand dollars
  • GST (Goods & Sales Tax) is currently 15% - all quoted prices are GST inclusive
  • All prices, GST and rates are subject to change at any time without notice

Minimum Numbers

All brochure flights require 4 paying passengers minimum to be confirmed, or the cost of 4 seats covered (excluding the 'Love is in the Air' couples flight). Bookings will be accepted for numbers less than the required minimum and we will try our best to coordinate bookings to achieve the required minimum for the flight to depart, but this cannot be guaranteed. We will call you on the afternoon before your flight to confirm if it able to go ahead.

Timetables

All departures are subject to change or cancellation if weather conditions are not suitable or if we do not meet our minimum numbers required for the flight. We will do our best to reschedule your flight, or a refund will be given (see Cancellation & Refund information below). If you are visiting from overseas, we recommend booking your flight for the start of your trip to allow for rescheduling if your flight cannot go ahead.

Flights operate every day except for public holidays. Please check with us for more details regarding availability for private charters on these days by emailing .

Flight Restrictions

  • Safety is paramount in determining if weather is good to fly. Cancellations or postponements may occur if the weather is deemed unsafe to fly.
  • Flight times and routes are subject to weather conditions, flight route may vary due to weather.
  • Individual and total weight restrictions apply to specific aircraft or flights.
  • The pilot will determine the seating of passengers based on weight and balance restrictions of the helicopter.
  • The helicopter used may vary and is at the discretion of Wellington Helicopters. Helicopters being EC130, BK117, AS350.

Infant / Child Prices

Infants who weigh 18kgs or less and are aged 3 years or under fly free of charge, however any aged infant that is over 18kgs must occupy their own seat and the full fare be paid for that seat.

Infants who weigh 18kgs or less and are aged 3 years or under must be held by a paying adult who is occupying a seat in the back of the helicopter only. The infant will be secured by a safety belt attached to the adult’s safety belt. One infant per adult.

No other child prices apply.

Booking Instructions

For the best chance of confirming your flight, please book well in advance. There is no set schedule for scenic flights, as such we will do our best to match up multiple groups at a mutually agreed upon time to meet our 4 person minimum requirement.

Please ensure the following information is provided when booking:

  • Preferred date of travel
  • The specific Trip you would like to book
  • Passenger names and weights (in kgs)
  • Specify adult/child/infant
  • Contact phone number while in New Zealand
  • Agent details (if applicable)
  • Method of payment
  • Special/dietary requirements (if applicable)

With direct bookings, credit card details will be taken and held but payment will not be taken until the day you check in for your flight. However, a 20% deposit may be needed for private charter flights.

Payment can be made in advance to secure your flight booking. Should you fail to show for the trip when space is guaranteed, your credit card will be debited with the total amount of the booked activity.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Weather cancellations are out of our control, we will try to rebook you for another time or a refund will be offered in accordance with our refund policy guidelines.

Should inclement weather prevent a flight at the booked location, the same prepaid voucher will be accepted at any of GCH Aviation bases in New Zealand for a flight of similar duration and price. If you are unable to re-schedule the flight then a full refund will be provided.

No refund will be given for no-shows or changes you make to your booking less than 24 hours prior to departure.

Where payment is made by credit card and a refund applies, the amount must be refunded back to the credit card in New Zealand dollars. GCH Aviation and Wellington Helicopters take no responsibility in paying any transaction fees incurred for this.

Payments made by credit card will result in the refund being refunded back to that original credit card only - no cash refunds apply.

No cancellation fee applies for FIT cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance or at least 4 days in advance for groups of 5+.

Bookings and payments made through third party sites (such as Expedia, Viator, TripAdvisor, Grabone, etc) will be subject to their terms and conditions and refunds will come from them, not Wellington Helicopters.

Change of Date

Reservations may be transferred to another date, subject to space availability, with no transfer fee incurred, provided notification is received at least 24 hours in advance or at least 4 days in advance for groups of 5+. If you or Wellington Helicopters are unable to re-schedule the flight then a full refund will be offered. Please consider visiting one of our other bases to fly while on your holiday:

We accept all major credit cards, Eftpos or direct banking.
Payments can be made by direct credit at least two days prior to the date of travel.

Wholesale / Agents

Wholesale rates are available only to wholesale/inbound operators who have made contact and introduced themselves to our marketing department.

Credit applications must be completed and returned from wholesale/inbound operators before any rates and bookings can be confirmed.

Any charter bookings that fall on the New Zealand Statutory Holidays listed below will incur a 20% surcharge.
